Argentina's Do Not Call Registry (Registro No Llame): What Callers Must Know

DNC LATAM · Compliance guides

Argentina's Do Not Call list is theRegistro Nacional No Llame, created by Law 26.951 and enforced by the AAIP (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública). Any company that advertises, offers, sells or gifts goods or services by phone to Argentine numbers must check the registry before calling — including SMS and automated calls, and including callers located outside Argentina.

How the registry works

  • Consumers register any line — mobile or fixed — for free through the AAIP portal. Registration is indefinite until withdrawn.
  • Companies doing telemarketing must register with the AAIP as users of the registry and download the current list before campaigns.
  • The obligation applies per campaign: lists must be checked against a current copy of the registry, and calls to registered numbers are each a separate infringement.

Penalties under Law 26.951

The AAIP investigates consumer complaints and sanctions violations per call, with fines that scale for repeat offenders. Enforcement is active: the agency publishes sanction resolutions against banks, insurers and call centers regularly. As withMexico's REPEP, the fine exposure of one un-scrubbed campaign dwarfs the cost of compliance.

The catch for foreign companies

Registering with the AAIP as a registry user is Spanish-language paperwork designed for local entities — it requires Argentine tax credentials that foreign companies simply don't have. We documented the full process inhow to register for the Registro No Llame, step by step. Most foreign call centers and platforms dialing into Argentina either call blind (accumulating liability) or skip the market. The practical alternative is using a provider that maintains the AAIP registration and delivers the current registry as a service.

Complying in practice

  1. Scrub every Argentine calling list against the current registry before dialing — see how DNC scrubbing works.
  2. Keep dated scrub records per campaign.
  3. Honor individual opt-outs immediately, even for unregistered numbers.
